skiing/boarding in New Zealand

Really really want to go snowboarding... Probably not going to be able to take a whole week off so was thinking of a long weekend taking off friday/monday. The nearest snow to me is about 7 hours drive. Was thinking of perhaps flying to NZ for 4/5 days.

 

I have absolutely none of my stuff here with me, so will need to beg/borrow/hire all the gear, also dont think Ill have anyone to go with so will most likely be heading over myself.

 

Is this do-able? Is there packages for things like this or am i looking at booking it all individually?
