beeswax Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I've a dual core laptop on which I'm trying to install WSS 3 via Virtual PC. Everything seemed to be working well, until I got the following error message, "System.Data.SQLClient.SQLException was thrown....Cannot open Database "WSS_Search_WSS_Server" Is the database created during the install of WSS 3, or do I have to set it up myself, and if so, how?
Ric_ Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Funnily enough, I have just done this on VMWare for BETT. There is an option to install an embedded SQL server IIRC but what I did was install SQL 2005 Express (actually in a different VM because I like making life difficult for myself) and all ran fine. I think you should be able to install SQL and then simply run the configuration wizard without having to do a full install which should save you some time.
beeswax Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 Right, I've undertaken the 10 steps programme (er...sorry, that's something else). Right, after following your advice, I've gone through the setup without a hitch and have now bookmarked the home page. I can't really do much more at work today so I'll take the lappy home and try to find time to have a play tonight. Eee, isn't it great doing it in tandem?
