t_guest Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 i need advice on what grapic card you can run linux desktop 3d cube software on as my friend said you need a older graphic card is this true /false
kingswood Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I run Mandriva on a Dell Inspiron 510m with Intel GMA Graphics (64MB shared system RAM graphics memory usage). It runs XGL great. You would be better with a newer supported card, but it runs on chipsets with integrated graphics too.
Geoff Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 If you want a high end card. You've basically got a choice between ATI and Nvidia. Given that, Nvidias drivers are better.
CyberNerd Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I'm running XGL with Ubuntu edgy and Beryl 0.1.4 using 8.28.8 ATI drivers. List of supported/unsupported cards here: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Video_Card_Support_Under_XGL
