SteveC Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Hi First post here!! I've set up a simple Joomla site hosted on 2008 / IIS6 and encountered a slight problem If I run Joomla through port 80 the site runs a slow as a dog. If I change the port number to say 8010 and browse to the url with :8010 appended the site is as quick as I'd expect. This happens locally - accessed on the school network - and externally when browsed from outside of school Any ideas?? Thanks!
littlehoughton Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Have you tried redirecting the default website to an alternate site/port on your IIS Server
SYNACK Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Is it getting hung up bouncing to a proxy server and back again, try adding the address to the local proxy exceptions list and see if that helps any. Some browsers do not automaticly see the site as local even if it has no domain suffix.
littlehoughton Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Hi, while ever you use a browser and have a proxy sepcified all requests will go via it whether it has a domain suffix or not. You are right in adding it to the proxy exceptions list, also generally with websites/Services that are hosted locally i usually setup split DNS so traffic for local users is not going out for external DNS resolution and back in again. Do you have a proxy server onsite and is this upstreaming to another proxy etc. ?
