Gatt Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Is it possible to remove sets from an NTBackup Catalog? My weekly backup is now approaching 50Gb and want to remove the sets created between september and december..
6Foot2 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 If you run NT Backup, select restore and manage media, right click the catalog set you want to delete and it offers you the option 'Delete Catalog From System' Will that do it?, or is that just deleting an entry and not actually deleteing the catalog itself.
Gatt Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 Its deleting an entry not the actual catalog...
6Foot2 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Ok. Try this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325832 In the body of the text, there is this which I think may help you: 'NTBackup creates catalogs for every backup job that is completed. These catalogs are stored as files in the following folder: %SystemRoot%\Documents and Settings\Account\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\catalogs, where Account is the user account that is logged on to Windows while it is performing the backup. These catalogs typically all appear on the Restore tab in NTBackup so that you can select which parts of the backup set you want to restore. When you start two or more backups jobs at roughly the same time, the catalogs that are created for the backups share the same timestamp attribute. The backup set that was cataloged first appears on the Restore tab in NTBackup. Any other backup jobs started at the same time do not appear on the Restore tab, and you cannot add them to the Restore tab by trying to manually create the catalog while the first job to be cataloged already exists there. ' Hope this helps.
