Strange Issue with Public Calendars in Outlook

Hi Guys,

 

Wondering if anyone has come across this problem and might be able to help.

 

We used public folders in exchange for a school shared calendar. Only a few users have write access to it the rest have read.

 

Anyway one of the users has been updating it for next year which has worked fine. All the appointments and dates are showing globally and can be seen by all users etc.

 

The problem is that the staff like to colour code the appointments, by assigning a categories to it. On the users laptop the colours all show fine however when views on another machine the colours do not appear- just the appointment.

 

To make matters even weirder, when another user assigns a categories (colour) to an appointment it DOES show globally- even on the original users machine.

 

I'm really scratching my head about this one. It can't be a permission issue as he has full write access (and wouldn’t be able to add anything if he didn’t). I thought it might be a sync issue (between his local laptop and exchange), however in that case the appointments he entered would not be showing at all (with or without colours).

 

I've had a sniff on the web and it appears we are not the first to have this issue but as of yet have been unable to find a solution. We are running Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2003.

 

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received!

Try making sure all users are given 'Owner' rights on the calendar. This worked for me.
