Would anyone be able to recommend any desktop videoconferencing units?

I think you may need to provide more information... desktop as in desktop PC connected or standalone? What kind of connection do you intend to use? Who will you be video conferencing with? So many questions!

We've got a Lifesize room which we're very happy with, it also cost a fair bit less then a Polycom would have done. However I've never used anything else so I don't have much scope for comparison.

The conferencing will be from my desk to a few international clients - desktop PC connected. I have looked at Lifesize but more towards their desktop product - anyone used it?

 

Not sure about the type of connection, the video quality doesn't have to be ultra HD. I'm basically looking for a professional version of Skype.

Have you spoken to you local rbroadband consortium. They probably offer a VC service and might have some input on what works well (although if they recommend Microsoft Netmeeting ignore them, it's medievil).

 

Once you're signed up with you local consortium's VC service join up with http://www.ja.net/services/video/jvcs/
