Wasup edugeek people!

im having a problem with a memeber of staff's IPAD

when trying to use RDP LITE it connects to our TS FARM fine

however when the user trys to enter their user name and password i get this error message.

To log into this remote console session, you must have administrator permissions.

the IPAD is connecting to the same ip address as the thin clients.

any thoughts would be great? :D

Calm down please. Levity never hurt anyone, and problems can often be solved by laughing at them as it's a good tension breaker. Makes you think more clearly.

Hey everyone -

I'm having a similar problem... Someone in my office bought an iPad and though they can RDP from any terminal at the office with their user account (including an iMac), we can't seem to log-in via any of the RDP apps on the iPad unless we use the admin account. We're running server 2003. I followed those links but unfortunately did not find any useful information. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I know it doesn't help you much, but I found your post very helpful - it sounds like an iPad isn't a good solution for remote administration of servers. We have a number of older RM Tablet PCs, I'm going to try one of those with a new battery, some more RAM and a solid state disk and see how it gets on.

If an admin account works fine you should be fine...

No, I'd want an RDP client that works properly - there's bound to be some situation for which I want to log in to a server as something other than "administrator".

Well, it's not that simple- For obvious security reasons I can't hand out the admin password to anyone, and since we have 20 reps that will likely follow suit and want to RDP from an iPad if I can get this running- I need to be able to log in as a user.

Glad I can help you guys with my technical difficulties though :p

Do you know if the VNC client has any problems? I was thinking an iPad with VNC would make a good replacement for an interactive whiteboard. For a complete cludge of a workaround, could you get a VNC client working on the iPad to a session on a spare machine of some kind, then RDP from there to your TS machine? For 30-odd people using it at once you'd need a VNC server that could handle multiple connections - maybe set up Ubuntu or something on a spare half-decent desktop machine, you could then RDP from there. Or even get an RDP server for Linux, then you don't have to get a VNC client.
