OK, hoping someone can help me there seems to be a lock screen on our school website for when the website is being updated. Yesterday I uploaded the whole website from dreamweaver and the lock screen appeared and its still there now, I have got no idea how to unlock it.

 

I found a file that says someone is working on it, but there not so currently I have a website that says we are currently updating our website. Untitled Document

There are mainly files that relate to facility, and only one which relates to the website, which is (drive name:\inetpub\cys website) and it says it is accessed by me, but the message i get when i try to upload the website is it says Adam is editing this certain file, Adam is the guy who was here before me so im sure that isn't possible.

are you hosting the site yourself or uploading to a web server eslewhere - could be locked on the web server. If yourself then try iisreset or reboot server.

We host it ourselves, I have reset the service, and stoped and started it again, with no joy. i have found the file that is being "edited" have tried to unlock with no joy

Its not to do with IIS but rather whatever CMS you are running in the background I think as it is throwing an error and returning this page as part of a custom feature, this is not built in to IIS.

 

You may have some kind of web based managment bit that you could log into and have a look there or you may need to contact the original develop of the site/tools used to get a hand in resetting it.
