I've been given some money to spend and new printers are on the agenda. We currently use HP2605n, HP3800 and HP3505's in classrooms around the school and have 1 CP1515 in an office.

I want to stay with HP and dont want to end up with yet another model of toners to have to buy. It seems the replacement for models such as the 2605 and 3505's are a lot smaller in size and toner capacity which means im reluctant to put them into a classroom and have to change the toners every few days.

Can anyone reccomend something affordable or know of where i could get hold of some 2605/3800/3505's as they all seem to be end of life?

We've been buying second-hand HP 4600 / 4650's off eBay. They've been trundling along okay, although they are designed to have more replaceable parts than the 2600 series - those are designed to run until they wear out, then you throw them away and get a new one. You could probably find some 3800/3505's on eBay - look for "Buy It Now" listings from people with a bunch of other printers listed, that generally indicates a specialist printer refurbisher and that they know what they're doing.

Don't buy any of them - HP drivers are an absolute pile of *&^!"

Sorry - having a bad day with HP universal printer drivers - not sure what universe they're supposed to work in but it's not this one :-(
