ajeffery Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Hi All Trying to get this following bit of software working through our Smoothwall but we are having a few issues with it. The software is SecureAccess SecureClient Central - which used for Alan testing. We have already allowed the website domain into the following area of the Smoothwall [Guardian, Authentification, Settings -> Do Not Require Authentification for these domains] - secureaccess.co.uk However, when trying to run the program, an error occurs when it tries to check for updates. ''The current Secure Client has updates that are invalid.'' The address for the update server is: https: //ncfe. secureassess.co.uk/ secureassess /updateservice.asmx [can't post links yet] We tried adding this into the same area as above - but no success. Anyone had any success with this? -A
nile_c Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 You will need to make sure that the domain 'secureaccess.co.uk' is in an allowed list for the Unauthenticated Users group. Because you skip auth. for those requests, they come through with the same access rights as an Unauthenticaed user; it's quite likely that unauthenticated users don't have (much) net access.
ajeffery Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 Thanks nile, The domain 'secureaccess.co.uk' is in the allowed list for the built in group 'All Groups'. Would that cover the Unauthenticated Users group?
nile_c Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Thanks nile, The domain 'secureaccess.co.uk' is in the allowed list for the built in group 'All Groups'. Would that cover the Unauthenticated Users group? Yes, that's right, All Groups will cover everyone. Has the allow rule improved the situation?
nile_c Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Ok, In the first instance I would review your web filter logs using Information>Logs>web filter. This would indicate if there are any other domains involved that it cannot reach during updates. It will also tell you whether the traffic is hitting the proxy at all. The 'realtime' filter log - also under the 'information' menu - can be used if you'd prefer to do "live" testing, whilst you attempt the updates. Feel free to PM me any of the information from the logs, or open up a ticket with our support guys if needed.
