markman Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Hi, our file server that has a Dell external tape drive attached is now ignoring all our tapes in NTBackup. It sees them as new tapes when they are inserted and won't do restores from them. Not good! I have installed an old version of Veritas Backup exec that we had and thet sees the tapes but goes into a queued state when I try and catalogue them. Anyone come across similar?
SYNACK Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 If they were setup to be uses with the Veritas software then ntbackup will see them as new because it can't read the Veritas format, not sure about the Veritas queue problem though. If you do a backup to one of the tapes with ntbackup this should then be readible with ntbackup and restoreable to that point.
Mcshammer_dj Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 have you clean the tape drive, have you checked the tape database?
