They have got the server that admin is looking at, brand new and for a lot cheaper. The only difference is the processor so I need to do a bit of research to see if they are that different....

If you're looking at buying a replacement server I'd personally buy from a well known company that has a proven track record. Might cost a bit more but it's more vital than just a desktop pc.

Check the warranty too (next day onsite, 4 hour same business day etc etc) make sure it fits what you need operationally.

I know I’m a bit late on this thread but i have been using Deane Computer Solutions for laptops for my company (Latitude E6410s, E6420s and M4600s). They are a lot cheaper than even our account manager at Dell (and we get a massive discount). Very quick and reliable. Probably going to buy one for myself through them. If they don’t have it advertised on their website then give them a call and they will track something down for you (even non-Dell products). I would definitely recommend them.

 

(And no, i dont work for Deane ;-p)
