sjatkn Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I have just done the latest update to SmoothWalls authentication and now I am having problems. In the services » authentication » control page I have a red X against current status. I run the diagnostics and get "Can contact authentication service" with an X against it. In the logs for the authentication service I see 16:00:26 authd Reading ident by IP file 16:00:26 authd Clearing old login sessions 16:00:26 authd Reading temporary group map file 16:00:26 authd Fatal error at src/ds_tempmap.c:101: Missing domain field in temp map Any thoughts on how to fix it. I do have a call open with Stone regarding this, but often you folks are faster.
DMcCoy Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 You may need to configure authentication again as the settings may be lost when updating the auth module. 1
sjatkn Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 You may need to configure authentication again as the settings may be lost when updating the auth module. I will take a look at this on Monday. My only concern would be that it looses all the group settings I currently have. I did run the diagnostics and all the Active Directory settings were showing as okay.

Hi there, Just having a quick glance at some of the code, do you have any temporary bans (Services > Authentication > Temporary Bans) currently in place? If you do, can you try removing these, restarting authentication and if that works re-create them. This may be the same for if you have ever "overloaded" AD users by creating a user with the same name in Local Users, to assign a user to a different group than AD is telling us. Let me know how you get on, Rob. 1

I have definitely got some temporary bans in place. I will give your advice a go in the morning. I may, though working from memory, have overloaded an AD user.
rob_f Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Cheers, I've alerted support so if no dice from this please PM me your details and they'll get in touch. Ta, Rob.
