bandgeekmafia78 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Hi, Is it possible to image a server using GhostCast Server if the Server has a hardware RAID? Basically, I am very short of disk space on the c:\ and I plan to image the Server; backup the D:\; put the image back onto the server with an increased partition size; restore data back to d:\ Has anyone managed to do this? I'm fairly nervous as this is my SharePoint server! Thanks, Alan.

Guest TheLibrarian Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Done this plenty of times. It's no different to ghosting a workstatrion IME. You may have to use WinPE with RAID and NIC drivers added - that depends heavily on your hardware, but beyond that I've never hand any problem.

Guest TheLibrarian Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I was talking about the O/S you will be booting the server from to take the image. With the odd RAID card I've come across PC-DOS couldn't see the disk / partition. If you use the WinPE O/S, then you may have to add drivers for the NIC and / or RAID to the WinPE image before Ghost can read the drive or talk to the GhostCast server. I've never had cause to use Linux to Ghost a server, and have never looked at how to add drivers to that.
