ICT Support Team Member

(Worked based learning opportunity for one year position)

 

Salary: £12,145 per annum

We seek to appoint a flexible and highly motivated person who can demonstrate a high level of ICT competency to join our ICT Support Team for a temporary period of one year with a negotiable start date. The school has recently been awarded the Becta ICT Mark for continual improvement in ICT for the second time.

 

Applicants need to be able to work on their own, as a team member and to use their initiative to develop ICT throughout the school. Experience is essential in supporting desktop and laptop computers running Windows XP Professional, as well as supporting and administering Windows 2003/2008 servers on a day-to-day basis. Experience of Exchange 2007, SIMS or other educational software would advantageous.

We are seeking a person with the following qualities and skills:

 

• Must be resourceful, self motivated and highly organised with the ability to prioritise .

• A calm approach and an ability to communicate clearly with staff regarding problems that they may be experiencing with hardware and software.

• A desire to fulfil and extend potential in ICT within education.

 

 

ICT Support Team

 

The ICT Support Team provides, installs and maintains all ICT equipment for the school. To be able to support the aims and ethos of our Specialist College status we have invested in technology that provides:

 

• Support and access for 1500 users

• Provision and support for 800 desktop and laptop computers

• Wireless technology, gigabit Ethernet backbone

• Understanding of Network technologies such as TCP/IP

• Experience in creating scripts

• Experience of managing a user environment using Group Policies

• 10mbit networked Internet access and relevant filtering software

• Local Intranet and extranet

• Microsoft Office 2007

• Remote access from home

• Digital media rich technology and development

• Interactive whiteboard technology in the classroom

• Collaboration with local/national schools and the local community

• Digital Projectors

• Virtual Learning Environment

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

You must have:

 

• Relevant qualifications in IT or be studying towards a relevant qualification

• A commitment to providing a high standard of service

• A familiarity with all aspects of modern ICT services

• Previous experience in developing ICT servers in a large organisation, experience in an educational setting would be a distinct advantage

• the ability to communicate at all levels
