[ghost] Ghost and Dell E6400

I cannot for the life of me get ghost to detect the network card in this machine. Ive tried all the PCDOS, WinPE, WinPE 512 and also the linux options for the boot CD. Ive even followed the instructions to manually add the drivers to the winPE environment, but still cannot get it to work..

 

Has anyone here got a working boot ISO for ghost that works with the E6400 ?

IT doesnt let me. The Edit Button is greyed out in PCDos

So which drivers do I want to add? On the dell website for the e6400 theres only windows 2000 -> 7 .. Im a bit confused as to which ones I should add for it to work in PCDos ?

then you need to look at intel/realtek/marvel etc's website

Have you thought about using a slightly different method to image the E6400's ?

 

What about using netbootdisk and mapping a drive in MS-Dos and then running Ghost from there?

Ive not had a machine with a floppy drive for a number of years.. is there a bootable iso of your disk available ?

There are several options variable for you....... but the best is to use a VFD to make an .iso with Nero.

I suggest that you hit up the forums for more help. There are lots of great resources out there on how to automate this process for you, and overall... make your life a lot easier.

alternatively if you use wds (or can set it up) i use win7 rescue (basically a custom win pe image) that i shove ghost32 into so i can wds boot into a usable version of win7 load ghost and go (also allows for file recovery etc) Win7RescuePE

I've got these ghosting on Ver 8.0 without a problem - I'll check to see what drivers I've been using.....

Right I am using Intel 82567LM DOS Drivers - I am not getting full duplex as I can't be arsed to mess around with the protocol.ini file and other settings.

If you need them let me know and I'll zip them up and attach them.

IVe found a solution:

 

 

The DOS driver you need for that network card is the Intel Pro 1000:

 

Intel® PRO/1000 Family of Desktop Adapters Network Adapter Drivers for MS-DOS*

 

After you run that executable, it will create an Intel 15.x folder at the root of your C drive. In the Ghost Boot Wizard, modify the Intel Pro 1000 template and select the e1000.dos file in that folder (C:\Intel 15.x\Pro1000\DOS\e1000.dos). Then open the console and change the properties on that machine on the Client tab to use the Intel Pro 1000 template. This should do it.

 

Additionally, sometimes on those machines we need to add command line switches to negotiate with the SATA drives. In the Image Create Task, click on the Advanced button in the lower right of the General tab and type these in:

 

-FNI -FFX -NOIDE -NOUSB

 

Let us know if that works!
