Moodle external hosting, your internet connection

What connections does everyone have that have externally hosted moodle sites? We would like to move from internal to external hosting but we are worried that our connection would not be up to scratch as it is only 3mb bonded connection and we have 900 pupils and 150 staff that would be on moodle with at most 100 users on at a single time.

I have externally hosted moodle with ULCC, but then we have a JANET connection!

 

A 3mb bonded connection sounds very little, but looking my our data traffic I don't think you'd have a major problem, though it depends on what resources are going to be used within your moodle.

Would any of Moodle's new network / hub features let you have a local install that mirrored an external server?

That assumes Moodle 2.0 gets released on time and there's people willing to gamble on a 2.0 release though
