Dos_Box Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Just saw the offer on the Comet ad showing today and they are doing the Canon IXUS 100 for £129 over the bank holiday weekend, which is a pretty dammed good saving from book price. All I need to know is, are they any good (I could read online reviews etc, but I'd rather get the info here from those who actually know about such things)?
AngryTechnician Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 While I cant comment on the Ixus 100 directly, I have owned a couple of previous model IXUS cameras and they have been consistently very good for a compact digital. The only reason my most recent camera isn't one of them is that I wanted something a little bit beefier and went for a PowerShot instead.
danrhodes Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I can also vouch for IXUS cameras, my better half has one, not the 100 series but as a range they seem to be pretty good at the job they were designed for, sturdy too, hers has been dropped a few times and seems to be holding up well.
robk Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Brought one (I think its that model) for a youth theatre recently. Paid significantly more than that though. Nice Camera, good video etc. Was a bit disapointed with the low light focus, but then I am comparing with a SLR. Certainly the IXUS range seems really good, and for a point and shoot camera well worth looking at.
Dos_Box Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 Thanks all. I already have a Powershot G10, but it's not very good for sticking in your pocket for days out etc. I may invest this weekend.
tom_newton Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Echo previous posters - had my Ixus 55 for *years* - the batteries are all starting to fade now (some were el cheapo 3p ones), and the camera is looking old and scuffed, but the camera served me well, and I will not be looking at non-canon again. Might have one of these, especially as it has IS. Edit: Hmm it even takes the same nb4l batteries as the old 55... could re-use 2 of the better ones...
