We are considering giving web access to our existing intranet based VLE, what would be the best type of connection to buy into in terms of speed? We are a school of 1200 students and 130 staff. I would be especially keen to hear from folk who are doing something similar.

Thanks,

Chris

How many users do you expect to use it at the same time. What type of web applications would you be providing? Any Bandwidth heavy ones?

One or more bonded SDSL connections is probably the most suitable against cost, or upwards: some bonded T1s, or a private circuit to your ISP (Business Internet Leased Lines - High Speed Internet Leased Lines in London, UK - Services Nationwide | Goscomb Technologies Limited).

Interestingly we serve up Exchange, OWA, VLE and Intranet access through our ADSL with a 1.3Mib/s upload I think, but we're much smaller than you.
