soveryapt Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Good afternoon all .. Right, just hit an issue I may have on an Ubuntu which we use as a file server here for the time being. Initially when I was going to set the thing up, I was going to use the Server Edition of Ubuntu as I can do everything via SSH that I need to (and still do) however, the ICT Coord (ex-techy himself for this actual school) has only really played with Desktop, so I've installed the Desktop Edition, but the box is going out of the way so not practical for sit and access. A KVM with a Cat5 Extender might work if we had the points, but for now I'm looking to see if there is a way to set the box so that you can Remote Desktop even at the login screen in 10.04. I know that I can set it per user, but it would be handy (say from Power Outages) to be able to remote into the login screen too, but I can't seem to find the setting I'm after. Ta
TwoZeroAlpha Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 How about VNC or X over SSH, both worth looking into.
soveryapt Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Tis true, I was just trying to avoid 3rd Party installs given I won't be supporting it after a weeks time. I know the remote desktop in Ubuntu is based on VNC so hoped there might of been a work around.
