pwds Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 A few weeks ago I noticed error reports on almost every computer on the site relating to KB974417 which as a consequence I pulled from WSUS. KB 974417 is a security update for Microsoft's .NET Framework 2 Service Pack 2. I've been busy since and thought nothing of it other than a vague thought to keep an eye on here to see if anyone reported it as a problem and also for any future updates to .NET 2 to make sure these were deployed. I have however today had issues with Sibelius which may well go back as far as the WSUS update. The following is taken from the event log (consisting of three seperate reports)- Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting Event Category: None Event ID: 1000 Date: 18/05/2010 Time: 14:33:40 User: N/A Computer: RM808WS03 Description: Faulting application sibelius.exe, version 6.0.0.54, stamp 49f85b3e, faulting module sibelius.exe, version 6.0.0.54, stamp 49f85b3e, debug? 0, fault address 0x002694cb. As an intermittent fault this may be a matter of sticking with it until I hear no more reports, but in the mean time I am trying to manually deploy this KB to a couple of test machines, and will probably re-install .NET 2 completely in the affected suite should that fail. The purpose of this post is to see if either the .NET update or Sibelius issues are happening with anyone else (are these linked or independent events?) and if anyone has any experiencing in troubleshooting .NET issues with Sibelius. Platform Windows XP SP3, Sibelius 6. W2k3 domain with WSUS 3.
K.C.Leblanc Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Remove KB976569, install KB 974417 (), then reinstall KB976569. Simples. (Although I have no idea if it has any effect on Sibelius) 2

pwds Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Well, that is done. Going to be a major pain if I have to do that on close to seven hundred computers. I'll have a go at scripting something.

Mr.Ben Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 you have 700 computers installed with Sibelius? that must of cost a fortune! It wouldn't of, from what I remember of Sibelius it has a Server Part to it which counts how many licences are in use, and if your using that you can install it on as many machines as you wish.

Oh i have never put it one pc's on a domain! the only computers i have ever installed it on are non-networked! therefore we have had to purchase single licenses! you learn something new everyday!
