Mix and match Procurve and 3COM SFP's?

Hi all,

Do you know if I can get 3COM SFP's and use them ok in ProCurve's? We might be upgrading some switches to 3COM 4800G but they will be connecting to Procurve's. I know in a couple of weeks the 2 officially become HP Networking so just wondering what to buy?

 

I wonder what will happen with firmware etc as I believe all switches by HP Networking will effectively be running Comware inside?

All recent ProCurve firmware will only access HP OEM modules. The module will be set to fault mode if it is non OEM. There are also Gbic revision requirements meaning that only the B and C modules are supported on most switches.

ok thanks, I knew about the revision B or later thing but not OEM modules.
