MCSA? Help...

Hi,

 

Im new this fourm and wondered if you could help me.

 

I am looking to do a MCSA in Birmingham, I have found a company called Netcom netcomtrainingsolutions .co.uk they offer:

CompTIA

MCP

MCSA

all for £2,500, over about 8weeks.

This includes, labs, inhouse training and lectures, mock exams, 121 help, etc.

 

I have completed an AVCE in ICT and a foundation year in Applied computing at Manchester. However, after that I decided I wanted a change and took theology. I'm am almost finished the degree and looking to go back into IT.

 

Just a few questions:

Is a MCSA worth going for to get a good job in it, or is there other traning i should be looking at?

How much should I be paying?

Any other advice that may be helpful?

You might find that a combined Microsoft MCSA, MCSE and Cisco CCNA course more beneficial, as it gives you a true grip for networking and a solid foundation for any ICT related job.

I did my MSDST and A+ in the evenings at Solihull College. Great gang there...

its chicken and egg. An mcsa is useful, but you wont be a rounded employee without having the experience. You could buy books and read those whilst you work day to day in a junior role, there are also training videos and software available on the internet.£2500 seems a lot, and 8 weeks seems almost too little to me, i'd dip your toe before you jump in at the deep end.

You will also have to be a very quick learner to do them all in an 8 week slot. If you have a lot of experience you might manage it.
