Guest salan Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 All our members of staff have been advised not to use any of these social networks for fear of reprisals from pupils and also other members of staff. People have and will be in the future hauled over the coals for making comments about their work, social life and also their private life which because they use these sites is no longer private. Good advice is not to use these social network sites if you can help it and if you can't take care what you say and just be professional at all times. I totally disagree with that. Why should I be denied access to something because I work at a school? I have relatives far away and the only way we keep in touch is through FB. We had an e safety person in to the school from county and she said the same as you that if you work in a scholl then dont use FB. I challenged her on that and she admitted that there was nothing to stop you. If you use Fb (or ANY other social site) then NO MATTER what your job, you should be professional in what you write. But me saying about having a good weekend and going to a medieval fayre with pictures so that my relatives can see has got f**k all to do with work. I have my boss as a friend and very few others from work. I only write things on there that I am happy to say in public. Alan
