clegg now choosing his words very carefully. this could well drag out for several days....

 

libdems did not do anywhere near aswell as expected. exit polls appear to be the correct indicators.

 

in terms of voter share it's a big swing to the tories, but it's been a story of holds in the labour heartlands, poor showing from the libdems, and the tories doing well in their traditional holds.
