I have a need to buy some graphics cards and want to know honest opinions.

Which is better out of the two choices.

Nvidia 9800GT (1GB)

ATI 5750 (1GB)

Reason I ask is for our media department who want to run some games (such as Spore, SIMS 3, Battleforge) as an after school activity.

Many thanks!

I'd say they're pretty equal. What's the difference cost wise, or are they identical? If not, go whichever is cheaper. If they are, I'd suggest the *edit* 5750 *edit* might have a tiny bit more power... Edited by RinSewand

ATI all day long. The 9000 series nvideas were pretty pointless really, the 8000 series was faster. But to answer the bottom line question, will they run those games? Yes, I have the 8800GT and it still plays most games in medium-high settings.

Yes, go for the 5750. It's superior. I have a 9800GTX+ in my cupboard at home, basically an overclocked GT, which didn't last long before I replaced it with a 5870, next series up from the 57xx. I've never looked back on nVidia since.

I keep it incase I want a budget or backup gaming system, but it's just collecting dust right now. The GT will do the job for you, but why scrimp when there's a better beast available to you? ;)
