jonburnie Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Hi everyone been asked to sort a SIMS FMS problem out in a school and it has problems migrating, i will ouline below: FMS is still stuck on 6.85 never been migrated to MS SQL 2005 ran through everything installed 6.91 as per instructions but everytime i get to the migration data stage to convert data from sybase sql to ms sql i get the following error " “Migration cannot take place to a SQL server database that is already licensed. Please consult your usual support personel”, i have checked sql and that is running perfect also had local LA IT guy out to check out SIMS etc and sql and he said all that end is fine and its something in FMS. Can anybody help as CApita say they dont support old migration anymore and wanna charge £705.00 for half day support but if it is something i can do then i dont mind, we just need to get fms upto latest version if possible. Thanks in advance Jon
Sarconia Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I've had a look on SupportNet to see if there are any solutions for this one and I'm afraid there aren't, chances are that if there were ever a solution around, it's been archived. I can't ever remember having that problem... although it was a very long time ago. It might be something like a simple setting/field that's not filled in in the FMS database, however it might also be something considerably more complex. How many financial years are held in this FMS database? It may be worth creating a new FMS database for the 2010/2011 financial year and then simply just accessing the old one if you'd like to view what went on in previous financial years. This would save you the £700 fee at least.
jonburnie Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 cheers for reply i searched supportnet as well and couldnt find anything, it has quite a bit of data in it so they are decidein whether to just to pay the costs and get Capita out.
Polski Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 A couple of points worth mentioning. Have you already migrated SIMS .net to SQL 2008? Where abouts are you? As someone may be willing / able to drop by and offer help (out of hours probably!) What is your system running on Windows Server 2003 / 2008, XP, Vista etc? Has the FMS -SQL infrastructure been installed yet?
matt40k Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Sounds like you haven't applied the license file to the fms database. Just a thought.
