HMCTech Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Been trying to find a good guide on what steps need to be taken for installing SP2 on Sharepoint. I have two sharepoint servers and I think I need to install the Sharepoint Services SP2 and then the Office Servers SP2 but I am not sure and then there is some information about a psconfig to go through afterwards but I need to know what do do beforehand if anyone can help!
apearce Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Alex, You are correct - you have to install SharePoint Services and then Office Server and then run the configuration tool. 1. Install Service Pack 2 for SharePoint Services on Server 1 2. Install Service Pack 2 for Office Server on Server 1 3. Run SharePoint Configuration Server on Server 1 4. Install Service Pack 2 for SharePoint Services on Server 2 5. Install Service Pack 2 for Office Server on Server 2 6. Run SharePoint Configuration Server on Server 2 ensure that no one can connect to your sharepoint sites during your patching. A. 1
HMCTech Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Hi Alex, Thanks I winged it earlier this morning and have verified that both are updated. I did have one strange thing. I ras WSS SP2 on the WFE server first of all and when I went to do Office SP2 it said it had already installed. But on the database server it required both.
