We are running a club called STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics)

I need to design a logo for the website but I'm strugling to come up with ideas.

could my fellow edugeek friends help me out with suggestions?

cheers

My initial thoughts were fractal lettering as all of the namesakes rely on it but it may be hard to generate and not look as cool as I had initially thought The paperCrane’s view from the reverseFold

You could do a matrix type thing with the letters filling them with dense 1's and 0's

I also thought of the basis of matter and making each letter its corresponding element which quickly fell over when I got to T and remembered there is no element T, E or even M which ruined it.

I would try to look for a unifying theme between all of the fields and go from there but my ideas have kind of dwindled to atoms or numbers as unifying elements to all of them.

Cheers, OK so I started looking at curriculum colours, because that's the idea of STEM. It brings (some) curriculum subjects together. this is what I have come up with so far...

It looks alright as a concept, as its a logo does it need to contain the full name or just the acronym?

Bearing in mind that this is literally a 3 minute mock up so don't laugh too hard :)

Attached I went with the idea of the knowledge tree and the acronym of STEM which links it, you have different branches of the tree being differing subjects. As it has to be small and simplified to be a good logo along with the name I went with a stem and some leaves on it. Each leaf has a letter of the name on it and the last has a drop of water hanging off it. This drop of water is diffracting the light to make a rainbow of the curriculum colors indicating they all part of the same thing. It also fits with the rainbow logo on your linked page above.

Stem..png <- click-able for full size, inserted inline

The stem should be more stylized with bigger leaves and letters to give it more impact and having it all one color in the main area should make it workable in grey scale as well when printed.

Your new one looks good, it took me like 10 minutes to work around the upload bit, it does not seem to work in chrome :(
