Region Free DVD Drive Firmware

Hi,

 

Please can someone point me in the right direction to a website that will have a region free Firmware for a DVD+RW Drive on my Dell Laptop. The Dell part number is C3284.

You can use VLC.

 

VLC is one of the free software and open source DVD players that ignores DVD region coding on RPC-1 firmware drives, making it a region-free player. However, it does not do the same on RPC-2 firmware drives

I found VLC to be ok but doesn't work on some.

That would bean burning the discs, I have a mix of Australian DVD's and British. The collection will get even more mixed. I want something that i can just bang a disc in and it works.

Considering the prices of dvd rom or dvd - rw drives now - I just got 2 drives, one for region 2 and the other one multi regional - just check for a model of drive on the RC1 page and get that model and do the firmware on that one, that way if it goes sunny side up it wont cost that much to get another one.

 

15 or 20 quid for a drive unless its a sata one ?

AnyDVD will do exactly what you want on the fly there is no need to Burn any DVDs
