microsft word 2000 problem,error, virus

hi all i am getting a few problems on some of my boxes that still have office 2000 on them (most have 2003 now) when a user opens word they are getting lotts of toolbars appear (in particular the formatting toolbar)so much so thatthey can't see any of the actual document, i figure its a macro virus of sorts any one else got any clues to solving this,?i have deleted profiles and that seems to solve it but i guess unless i solve it its gonna keep reppearing. I have done a search around the net and have turned up a blank.

the normal.dot template is corrupt. delete it and word will generate a fresh one.

this didn't work a reinstall fixed it though weird as it worked fine for admins?
