Dos_Box Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 What seems to be the problem? It looks like a council has binned a company who has not come up to scratch.
SteveT Posted September 15, 2005 Author Posted September 15, 2005 "Bedfordshire County Council has paid business service provider HBS £7.7m to terminate its £250m, 12-year outsourcing contract prematurely." If I couldn`t do the job I am paid to do (shut up those sitting at the back!!!) I wonder if I`d get a nice big wad to go away? 8O I don`t think so!!! It seems nowadays that businesses can get away with the most ridiculous behaviour. 1. Take up a contract with a local or central government department, or institution. 2. Fail to deliver. 3. Threaten to sue for breach of contract when they get fed up with your failure and close the contract. 4. Get paid a nice big wad to go away because this is still cheaper than paying the legal bills if it does go to court. Thinks: Anyone fancy setting up as an alternative to Capita? We can fail to deliver but make our fortunes under the above scenario!!! 8)
Dos_Box Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 They somehow got the council to provide them with a written statement stating that HBS were not at fault in anyway and were perfectly complient with all aspects of the contract. This stinks to high heaven if you ask me. Do you have any dirt?
SteveT Posted September 15, 2005 Author Posted September 15, 2005 I would love to see the original contract spec. and hear how the company had "failed" to deliver!! Two possibilities: 1. It was the councils fault by not specifying the contract properly (quite possibe), in which case heads should roll at a high level considering the amount of ratepayers and general taxpayers money that has been wasted! 2. It was the companies fault in which case they shouldn`t have received a penny, indeed should have been sued for breach of contract and costs. Seems to be one law for.......etc.
