Boot Error ML115 esxi and xenserver

Hello,

 

Having problems installing hyper visor on ML115 with 4 raid 5 sata drives

 

I get 2 words "Boot error"

 

Same result with exsi 4.0 and xenserver 5.5.0

 

Anyone help?

They don't support the drives in a RAID array, they will only see individual drives on the controller as it's only the basic ICH10R which is not proper RAID.

 

You need to turn RAID off or get a compatible RAID card (like the E200)

You could certainly boot from USB, but you will still only see it as 4 individual drives. The RAID needs driver support that is not included in ESXi 4 (and seemingly also Xen).

 

As I wanted RAID with the ML115 I used a E200 (128MB battery version) along with the 4 SATA connector.

Would a HP Dl380 G5 raid card be supported? P400 Smart Array controller

 

How does hyper v work, is that the same as esxi and xenserver in regards to supported raid do you know?
