[sccm 2007] OSD reboots during OS deployment

I'm trying to run a 'build and capture' task sequence but the task sequence gets to apply operating system and the machine reboots.

 

This occurs when trying to install x86 or x64 Windows 7 from SCCM 2007 R2.

 

I've tried stripping the task sequence down to a bare format disk and apply OS image (using OS Install Package) and I've removed ALL drivers but this still happens.

 

Using a MDT task sequence it seems to do more, changing the wallpaper to the Windows 7 dove wallpaper briefly. It still just reboots without actually copying the files though

 

Bringing up the command prompt in WinPE lets me see that I have an IP address and I can ping my SCCM server fine so that would suggest that it isn't a NIC driver problem.

Use the prompt to open notepad.exe and have a look for the local log files. It should give you a clue. I cant remember where they are exactly though.

Also if you copy them to another server you can look at the files using the configmgr toolkit tool called trace32 which highlights areas.

One quick thing, you did setup distro points for the os package? and force an update?

I may be stupid but I'm not that stoopid (anymore). Plus the pre-requisite check passes once you run the task sequence.

LOL I only suggest it as I have had pain when I have forgotten in the past
