If it's seamless authentication then there are increased security risks. Gota be good that the user accounts and passwords are connected though.

After talking with various people ... including 2 suppliers of MS Learning Gateway systems that involved MIIS (Microsoft Identity Integration Services) it relies on the web part of the MIS sat withi Sharepoint. When you view this page it makes a call, via MIIS to the MIS and no further authentication is required. Most pages on Sharepoint sites will not require any further authentication other than Windows Integrated Authentication (when using IE) or the initial sign in (when using other browsers or when not logged into the school domain.

 

I am sure I remember Mark A'Bear saying that you can force a page to request authentication again ... maybe Tosca or other existing Sharepoint users confirm that this is possible?

 

This could be an acceptable solution but the requirement for just one username and password when logging in to access the web parts is all that is needed.
