scrolling news help

Hi,

 

i have just installed a scrolling news package onto our edugeek joomla 1.5 package. The scrolling text works well inside an article. The speed and width can be changed by editing the plugin in plugin manager.

 

to add scrolling text i simply add the code {text=text goes here} into an article and it works as expected. I created a new custom HTML module with the intention of displaying scrolling text in a module with position 'user1' instead. When i try adding the text into the module the scrolling text doesn't work and just displays the code exactly as entered into the module.

 

Is there something i need to add to the code with this being a module not an article?
