reggiep Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 We have a limited number of smoothwall licenses so we decided to put our more challenging students on to it. For speed we created a new OU and changed the gpo that affected it to point items in it to smoothwall. Is this best practice or would we be better creating a group, naughty users, and then adding our challenging kids to this group? Thanks
webman Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 If your list of naughty users changes a lot, which I suspect it will if ours are anything to go by, it's probably better to have a group; instead of moving their location all the time.
danrhodes Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Yeah id go with the group option also its a much better and easier way than moving OU's. D
maark Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 we have done the same - had to have OU and group in the end to lock everything down. Does not take a minute if you have OU's nested beneath your existing student containers.
azrael78 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 We have done this and we use a group for it. If a student is in this group - no internet. Thankfully we have the support of Pastoral - so only they can authorise someone to be added or removed. Az
