Hello people,

Does anyone know "tried & tested" backing up VMware ESXi (Free edition) to an external NAS and restored that data with it all working fine.

I would really like to take clones of the VMware images as storage is not an issue but I'm finding it hard to find a cost effective soloution to snapshot the image.

If any of you know of a soloution you have tried and tested or know a working method I would be grateful for a reply on this subject.

Thanks

Veeam are generally regarded as one of the best solutions for this, but if you need something free then check out ghettoVCB. Several people on here are using it will success - see HERE.

Veeam or ghettoVCB? I can't see anything on the ghettoVCB pages about dropping ESXi support? :(

Sorry! Veeam are no longer supporting ESXi.

Ah right, no worries! :)

I can kind of understand that, and if I can afford Veeam I'll have the full version of ESX anyway so wouldn't mind. ;)
