[ms office - xp] Publisher 2000 Whingeing not enough Memory

We've got some XP Clients with Publisher 2000. When students use print screen, then paste, a Publisher message appears:

 

"There is not enough memory to display a picture. Some pictures may display incompletely or not at all. To make more memory available, save your work and close other programs; then try again."

 

The place-holders are there for the picture, but it's blank. The machines have 3GB RAM.

 

All the office service packs are installed.

 

I encountered this problem some years ago and seem to recall there was a registry tweak. We can't find anything on the mighty Google.

 

Users can paste into Word, then copy and paste in to Publisher as a workaround. So it's something with Publisher.

its not swap file related ive had programs complain when theres loads of ram if the swap file is too small

No we've made the swap file massive but no joy.

I have a work around to this problem. Paste pictures into Microsoft Word FIRST, then copy the pasted picture FROM Word into Publisher
