Unable to restore using backup exec 12

I am having problems restoring documents using Backup Exec 12 and our Fujitsu TX08 robotic library on windows 2008. When restoring I get the error "Physical Volume Library Drive or Robot paused, offline, or disabled." Our backups work okay, and I can see the folders listed in the catalog, but I can't restore - it used to work okay. I have followed the backup exec suggestions and updated the library firmware, updated the SCSI card windows driver and run live update to ensure there's no backup exec patches. I'm using the backup exec drivers for the library. I've also removed and reinstalled Backup exec (leaving the catalogs in place though), but still no joy. I'm getting desperate now as I have several restore jobs that need doing!
