Reception/Notice Screen TVs

Right,

 

Till Now I have had 3 TVs Thats have run off a PC which is remotly Controled to run a PowerPoint Presentation that us then sent over 3 RM EKKO devices (VGA over IP) on my Vanilla 2003 network. It has now come to the time for expansion to this system but RM no longer make their EKKO's and I cannot find any alternatives.

 

How Do you Guys do this as it will be between 2 different buildings and indivual PCs are not viable due to space and location.

 

Also Does anyone have a Company that does a Solution For this at all?

VGA Cat5 extenders are problably the best option for a single monitor. There are probably cheaper ones if you shop around but something like this should do the trick

As you are running several monitors from one PC, VGA Cat5 distribution with would probably be a better option.

Good Idea But there are no direct Runs and i cannot reall run cat5 over a car park

You can run it under it via an armoured conduit. Although fibre would be better.

The RM Ekko is an innovative projector

wired and wireless (when used as part of a wireless

network) clients to access the projector.

 

The RM Ekko uses CAT5, so you would have had to extend the network to use an RM Ekko anyway.

 

If you really want a remote monitor solution as you specified the best option is to extend the network.

 

To extend the newtork there are two options:

 

1) External grade CAT5/6 (MAX 120 metres)

2) Fibre (as was already mentioned)

Not sure what you are asking?

 

If you want to run VGA over IP you are going to have to use CAT5/6 with some sort of convertor at each end. This is the way you would normally extend VGA over distance.

 

What are your 3 other monitors connected to?

If you're a masochist you could try your luck with a WiFi bridge too.

I Have a Link already, 4GB Fibre, But there would be no direct link

the RM ekkos transmitted an IP stream rather than modulating the actual pictures so they can be used anywhere in a network I presume?

 

Wheras as cat5 extenders are just boosting and transmitting the analogue signal?

 

Could you not put 1 additional pc in the remote location with cat5 transmitters that could then send the image out on that side of the network?

Stream it using windows media encoder / windows media player?

 

(it has a built in screen capture device)

 

presume vlc can do something similar
