Audacity WAV problem

Hi

 

Got a teacher trying to play WAVs in Aduacity and when they import the WAV, and you click play - it does nothing!

 

It doesn't work with all WAVs though, only intermittent.

 

It has happened with 2 wav's so far. anyone with any ideas?

I upgraded to Audacity 1.3.9 Beta to avoid WAV-related problems (I think I had trouble writing them rather than reading them) - my install of Audacity plays your attached file just fine.

Downloaded the attached file and had a quick look.

 

Indeed, didn't play for me in Audacity either. The meter moves a fraction then stops.

 

Fiddled around a bit, noticed the frequency is on "Other", if you navigate to "Set Rate...", and it's set to 22255 Hz for that file. I altered the settings slightly and found that it would play if I set it to 22000 Hz. There is of course a slight pitch variation but it's practically undetectable.

 

You could give that a shot.

It's playing for me fine on Audacity 1.3.11 Beta

 

Maybe try reinstalling Audacity?
