CMD and batch files

Hi Everyone

 

We are having a big problem here with pupils creating cmd files and bat files now at the min it doesnt really do much but is there any way in which i can stop this from happening. If they try to use cmd it is blocked and they do get the message the administrator has restricted access is there anyway i can stop this from happening even when kids have created there own?

 

I would also like to be able to restrict access to .exe being run from memory sticks is there any step by step that i could run through to stop this.

I'm not sure about 2008s features but I assume there are still file filter features like in 2k3 R2 where you can specify file filters on a volume. This will stop them making them, running them or copying across. Have a search as this has come up before.

file filters i havent seen that now i never used the 2003 r2 i had some experience more with server 2000 then went right onto 2008 which was a bit of a change

would this stop pupils from making the .bat files? and also would it stop pupils running .exe files on their usb pens

thank you very much i will take a look through this it does say that administrators can block files from being saved great just what i was looking for stop these from being made or saved.

use group policy and block the extension .bat and .vbs from loading when logged in.

 

It shouldnt affect your pupils logins if you have batch files running.
