There was a lawyer on (IIRC) Sky News last night who said that Bliar has a team of experts following him around checking whether he is liable to be arrested for war crimes, should he enter a given country. Some governments take these issues very seriously!

 

At the very least, Friday should be quite interesting!

Usually, when a crime is suspected, a person is arrested, then an investigation occurs, then if a case is seen as being called for, the CPS proceeds with the case and the police inform the person of the charges against them.

 

It seems that when it comes to the legality of invading another country, where there are serious questions about the legality of it, the person who decided to do it can just do it without any repercussions until an enquiry has occurred, which isn't even allowed to publish half the stuff it needs to in order to present its case.

 

So, whatever the outcome of the current commission or whatever you wish to call it, it is highly unlikely that any charge would ever be brought.

He won't be tried for war crimes until Iraq win the war. Only then will they be able to go the The Hague and seek retribution for any crimes against humanity.

 

You need to WIN to get justice. Not just this war, but any.

That, I am fairly certain, is a (safer) derivative of an idea presented in a notorious essay called Assassination Politics written by a US "crypto-anarchist" in the 90s, and which had me in stitches at times. Same kind of deal but the donations go to whoever does the best job of "predicting" the time of someone's death.

 

BUT that wasn't a witty premise for some "noir" sci-fi book, I think you were supposed to take it seriously: It's from that gun-toting, anti-fed, anti-taxes, anti-gov corner of the US demographic that at one extreme spawned Timothy McVeigh.

no, i was thinking more the 6 million quid a year it apparently costs in protecting the waste of skin.

We pay to protect him, in foreign countries, when he's earning money from it?! What the hell?! He should pay for that himself!!
