Sims v Serco ( yes I know it's been done)

I know you are all going to moan , but I need some pro's and cons on both system's. We have run serco for many a year now but times have changed and we have been given the choice beetween the two, have looked and looked both have there merits and I can't decide. We are going to run an extream time table of a like no school has done before ( according to serco( who are not sure they can help with a breakaway from their presets)). So what I'm after is reasons to move or stay from a technical and if posible timetabling views with a bit of user chucked in.

there is plenty of information on the two systems on numerous other threads. post to one of those and all contributors that are subscribed will get an update, and the discussion can continue, without starting from scratch again.

Everybody knows what I think of SIMS. Having not used Serco I cannot comment on it - except to say that many staff in our school (who have experienced SERCO in a previous school) prefer our system - but that could be that the MIS is set up better due to myself having a complete overview of the entire system.

One major plus of SIMS however is the date-stamping of data. This enables you to report on the data for any given time/date.

Each system works differently for each school, might be worth going to visit the schools.

I've had people praise SERCO, some Praise SIMS, but also people complain about the two.. It's nice to see everyone's opinion but like choosing any product, you need to see it working and test it out for yourself

 

What is it you are trying with Timetables?

One Person's extreme Timetable could well be somebody else's simple Timetable.

Nobody can help without knowing further details!
