Looking at setting up a small training suite, will be set up as a peer to peer network as theres no long term storage or anything needed, as most of the training is web based.

The plan is 10 pc's wired and 8 macs wireless but will hardly be used at the same time looking at 10 concurrent users at one time max. And 2 networded printers.

So far we have a 100 MB connection comming in.

So if we get a 24 port switch connect this to the incoming connection and then connect the ports to the patch cables, this will work for the PC's?

If we then connect 2 Apple Airport Extreme Base stations to the floor boxes which are connected to the switch, would this provide connection for the Macs?

If the printers are connected into the switch to we could then print over ip?

Does this sound right or am i missing something obvious?

TIA

Yes it will work but why, when you are gettng a 24 port switch, would you want wireless desktop PCs?

Hiya j17Sparky, I think you slightly misread that - 10 wired PCs.

It's the Macs that are wireless, as far as I can see - guessing they're laptop, or maybe just need to be portable.

:)

Oh, and No, I can't see a problem with that setup.

Personally, I'd hve a pseudo server running, for the PCs to backup to.

Thanks for the feedback,

Yeah the apples are macbooks.

Will I need some sort of router as well?

If you've got a 100Mb connection coming in, you shouldn't need a router, unless you want to fine-tune the traffic.

Yes you should have some form of router or a server to provide IP addresses unless it is a part of a larger network. As you mentioned the coursework on webpages I assume that it is connected to a larger network or the internet. Then you may get IP addresses from the larger network or the router that connects you to the internet. Either of these should also provide the nessisary DNS server, fowarding or assignment via DHCP
