Ive got 2008r2 running as a vm in a test domain and exchange 2010. The DC is a 2008 normal.

I can send email within the domain, but it comes back as timed out when trying to send externally

Where should I be looking for error messages and things that would indicate where my problem lies?

Is it that you have not set up a send connector - there is not one by default in 2007/2010 like there was in 2003

most likeley then as all i have done is the install and created a couple of mailboxes.

How do i set up a send connector? :)

THanks for that. Ive got it sending now. And Ive changed the fqdn that it displays in the headers it sends too.

My next problem is to do with the authentication I think

From checkdns.net

>>> MAIL FROM:

Where abouts do I find the bit to change the authentication?

And also, how do I change the fqdn of this incoming reply from the local.domain to the real external one?

If you have got this working, please help me out too. My Problem is.

My exchange server receives emails externally (from Yahoo/Gmail) but it does not send emails. I don't even get the delivery failure message. It sends email but never received on the Yahoo/Gmail account.

Can you please guide me where I am making a mistake?

Regards,
