I'm as guilty as those I complain of, (not providing details). having visited the paypal site over the weekend, including your link above, I've followed instructions and tried to set up shopping cart, creating the button etc, but I just get redirected to the paypal login page when I click on buy.

What sort of hosting are you on? You might want to check if the hostings DNS resolves paypal.com to the right IP addresses. I've had it before on my hosting provider where a customer has managed to override the DNS settings for paypal.com so they can scam people.

the idea is that they don't have to log in to paypal but just go through their secure server section (so to speak) key in their cc details then return to the website. or that's how the example goes.

I just created the Add to Basket page on my desktop, clicked the link and went straight to the product page, so it seems as if Geoff could be right. I've emailed my ISP and await their reply.
