lesliesoup Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Our kids at our school have found a few mac games and loaded them on their flash drives. We have successfully blocked windows exe from running from a usb, now we would like to do the same for Macs. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Les
MarsRed Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I see two ways of going about this... 1) You could block access to flash drives (using Workgroup Manager) in general, but this wouldn't let students back up their files, etc. 2) You could choose the only applications that students are able to run (again using Workgroup Manager) - i.e. only Safari and MS Office. I THINK this would block flash-drive apps from being opened, but I can't be certain since I haven't tried it.
jeverington Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Games that kids bring in on USB sticks are generally .fla or .swf files that use Adobe Flash Player to run. Block access the Adobe Flash Player in Workgroup Manager. Kids will still be able to run flash on websites that they need to use! Hope that helps James
